My parents purchased Doxhaven in 1964, but the history began before that. There was Mary and Albert's farm on Indian Creek. There was Uncle Pete's dance hall and Uncle Bert's farm. Uncle Tommy was the barber in town and Aunt Magdaline made the best poppy seed rolls. Aunt Ursla taught school in Highland School. Mom and dad first rented a white cabin not far from Doxhaven from Roy Schnieder. Doxhaven went up for sale and dad went to talk to Dr. Edwards. He offered him a amount and Doc said he had a offer from someone in town for more. Dad said he should sell it to the man in town. That afternoon Dr. Edward"s sold it to dad. Doxhaven came fully furnished. I remember mom saying “They even left coffee in the coffee can”. To this day, there are original items in the cabin. Over the fire place, is Moose antlers from a hunting trip out west. I don't know if he actually shot the moose or not. We are sure there is a story behind them. The living room has the original oak floor. When the linolium was pulled up during the remodeling, we found the floor in great condition. Over the years people have enjoyed the cabin. Doxhaven got it's name from the original owners DR. Edwards and DR,. Davis. It was used as the Muscoda Hunting Lodge. The name stuck. A piece of my father will be forever on the boat house "Old Man River" is on the sides of the boat house. It was my dad's CB handle. We often get told. "Old Man River", oh we know that place. The white haired couple still enjoy hearing about the fun their kids and grand kids and great grand kids have on the river and at the cabin. The cabin will forever be a part of the people who stay there. Theresa Imhoff Wagner
